Beaverbrooks and Champions League
This week’s blog features a royal proposal and a giant dragon.
A (Not So) Royal Proposal
Sightseers were left stunned this week as they got more than they bargained for when they took a ride on the London Eye. Many eagle-eyed tourists couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Prince Harry down on one knee as he proposed to Meghan Markle – but all was not as it seemed so put the hats away folks! The pair were in fact professional lookalikes who had been enlisted by the jeweller, Beaverbrooks, to create the misleading moment.
This clever stunt couldn’t be better timed, as media speculation has been building about when Harry might pop the question, particularly in the run up to Pippa Middleton’s big day. A smart bit of PR by the jewellery retailer!
Blue Beast Spotted in Cardiff
Also this week, a gigantic blue dragon has appeared on top of Cardiff Castle to watch over the front gates as the city prepares to host the Champions League final. The dragon, which is accompanied by a giant trophy, has appeared at the iconic landmark attracting masses of attention from passers-by who couldn’t resist taking a selfie with the blue beast.
This cracking stunt follows the giant rugby ball that ‘crashed’ into Cardiff Castle in 2015, marking the Rugby World Cup. After taking 12 weeks to create, the dragon has already drummed up some great media coverage and is going down a storm on social media.
