Big Friendly Giant Cake

This month, a 22-foot statue of the BFG appeared in London…made entirely from Mr Kipling cakes.

The sculpture, which is made from 7,500 of the tasty treats, was created to celebrate the new Roald Dahl inspired product range from Mr Kipling, including The Enormous Croc’s Mud Pies, The BFG’s Strawbunkle and Cream Fancies, George’s Marvellous Lemon & Raspberry Whirls and Mr Fox’s Fantastic Forest Fruit Slices.

The creation, which has been stationed in Primrose Hill, London, weighs in at half a tonne, is ‘life sized’ at 7.32 metres tall and took food artist Michelle Wibowo more than 200 hours to create. The (big friendly) ‘giant’ stunt has succeeded in securing the brand some fantastic national media attention, as well as generating huge awareness of the limited edition range ahead of its launch across many of the UK supermarkets.

BA’s star-studded flight safety video

One thing on board a plane that is often ignored by passengers is the in-flight safety video. Well, this has been rectified by British Airways who has enlisted the help of several A-listers, including Joanna Lumley, Sir Michael Caine and Olivia Coleman to star in its latest edition.

The campaign sees the actors pretending to audition for the video, while getting across the important safety messages at the same time. Not only does this film capture the traveller’s attention and provide some entertainment before take-off, but it also promotes Flying Start, BA’s charity partnership with Comic Relief.

Following the success of a similar project last year, it promises to be a big hit for BA amongst customers and the public alike.
